kelli hand cause of death: Kelli Hand, the spearheading Detroit house and techno DJ known as K-Hand, has passed on, Mixmag, The Guardian, and the Detroit Metro Times report. She was 56 years of age. A reason for death has not been uncovered.

A local Detroiter, Hand was named the “Principal Lady” of her old neighborhood by the city’s chamber in 2017. During the 1980s, Hand started making brief excursions to New York, where she absorbed the music at clubs like Paradise Garage. During her visits she loaded up on vinyl and in the long run bought her own turntables. Not long after, she started DJing sets from her room prior to playing freely around Detroit.

In 1990, Hand dispatched UK House Records, which was subsequently renamed Acacia Records (after a road in Detroit). That very year, she gave Think About It, her presentation EP as K-Hand (a name she decided for its sex vagueness). In 1995, Hand’s first full-length On a Journey showed up, trailed by six studio collections across her vocation. Hand kept on performing live DJ establishes and discharge standards through 2020, working together with craftsmen like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Mike Banks, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Hand was a long-lasting boss of actual media, continually liking to work with equipment and LPs. “Assuming you can DJ with vinyl, you can DJ with anything,” she told Mixmag in 2018.
