The FW de Klerk Foundation reported the 53-year-old’s demise on Wednesday.

“It is with the most profound trouble that FW de Klerk declares that his child, Willem, kicked the bucket the previous evening in Durbanville after a fearless fight against disease. The family will, at the appointed time, make a further declaration with respect to memorial service plans,” said the establishment in a concise proclamation.
