Rita Houston Death: Rita Houston, a fundamental piece of the spirit of WFUV throughout the previous 25 years whose wide information and enthusiasm for music made her a broadly perceived tastemaker, passed on Dec. 15 in her home in Nyack, New York, at age 59. The reason was ovarian malignant growth.

“It is difficult to envision a WFUV without Rita Houston,” said Joseph M. McShane, S.J., leader of Fordham.

“She has expertly formed the station’s customizing and been one of its noticeable voices for a long time, and obviously has been a cherished individual from the station on the air and off. Our hearts go out to her better half, Laura, and their families, in their hour of sadness. I realize you get together with me in keeping Rita and all who cherished her in your contemplations and supplications.”

Houston joined WFUV in 1994 and rose to the situation of program chief in 2012. From that roost, she was answerable for driving the ethos of the station that is summarized in the trademark “Music revelation begins here.”
