C.T. Martin Obituary: Authorities said a man who went through a very long time on the Atlanta City Council as one of its longest-serving previous individuals kicked the bucket Saturday.

C.T. Martin, after whom the natatorium and diversion focus on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is named, passed on at 84 years of age encompassed by his family at his home in southwest Atlanta.

Martin addressed the city’s District 10 for almost 30 years. He was first chosen for the gathering as a feature of an exceptional political race in 1990.

Martin was an Atlanta local and graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He was an undergrad at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and heard a graduate degree from Atlanta University. That is the point at which he got vocal about local area issues in the region that includes neighborhoods on the west side of the city, for the most part south of the Interstate 20 and Interstate 285 exchange.
