This is the first picture of a tragic teen who died after a shock accident at an equestrian centre.

Tiggy Hancock, 15, died after suffering serious injuries during a training exercise at Greenogue Equestrian Centre at 2pm. Despite the efforts of emergency services at the centre in Tay Lane, Rathcoole, Tiggy later died in Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin.

Her home community of Bagenalstown Co. Carlow, has been left devastated by the news.

Edmund Kearney, a friend of the family, insisted Tiggy was on track to have a highly successful career and become a household name in equestrian sport. The 15-year-old had represented Ireland and the funeral director said she had so much talent that she would have had major success and become a household name.

“She was a girl who you would have been writing about for years if this hadn’t happened to her.”

Edmund said that Tiggy had been riding from a very young age and if tragedy had not struck she would have had a very bright future.

He added: “I’d say she was at it from when she could walk.

“She represented Ireland several times.”

Horse Sport Ireland also paid tribute to the talented youngster.
