Ty Stofflet Obituary: Softball’s lefty legend Tyrone E. “Ty” Stofflet, 79, once of Coplay, passed on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at The Phoebe Home, Inc., Allentown. Brought into the world dressed in Whitehall, July 29, 1941, Ty was the child of the late Harold M. also, Melba B. (Stettler) Stofflet. He went to the Whitehall Area School District.

Ty put the Lehigh Valley on the public softball map, driving his groups to National Titles in 1975, ’77 and ’78. He showed up in 16 Men’s Major Fast Pitch National Championships. Multiple times he was named an ASA All-American and multiple times he won or shared the MVP grant in the National Championships. Somewhere in the range of 1971 and 1979 the hard-tossing southpaw showed up in seven National Championships.

In 2004 Stofflet was accepted in the Hall of Fame following a 40-year profession which will be hard to outperform not to mention equivalent. In 1978, he was on the Dick Clark Live show in California and pitched against three LA Dodgers players. On May 28, 1979, he was highlighted in a Sports Illustrated article entited “This Guy Can Rise It, Drop It, and Pop It at 104 MPH”. In 1976, he partook in the International Softball Federation Tournament with the Reading Sunners where they spoke to the United States. The competition was held in New Zealand. Ty was likewise a committed family man, father, child, sibling, companion and pitching mentor. Albeit the entirety of his various softball accomplishments can not be completely composed here, he was really honored to have encountered and achieved such a huge amount in the course of his life.
