Karen Minor was brought into the world on October 1, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the little girl of Orval and Elsie (Kallem) Minor. She was taught in the Marshalltown school area moving on from Marshalltown High School. Karen was joined in union with Richard Franklin in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1969. She was a glad homemaker continually ensuring her family was dealt with. Karen had an energy for preparing, cooking, puzzles, makes, music, enhancing cakes, gathering Emmet Kelley comedian dolls and utilizing her PC.

Left to treasure her memory is her significant other, Richard Franklin; two sisters: Marlene Needs and LeAnn Stevens; and eight nieces and nephews; and various more distant family individuals.
