STEP 4: Register on the university website

Often a complete list of admission requirements and precise questions for motivation and recommendation letters can be found only on the university application form. It makes sense to register with the university’s online application system to familiarize yourself with the exact admissions requirements before you begin to work on preparing your application.

Automated online university application systems are common in America, where you can submit the same application to multiple schools. The most popular ones are a Common Application and the Universal College Application. Be aware that some schools can only accept applications to certain institutions, while others do not accept applications through these systems. Only one of these systems can take you, so make a list of the institutions you wish to apply to and set your priorities before you register.

A recommendation or character reference letter from a student’s teacher or employer is a required document for admission to all programs of study at any level. Applicants often have to write the main body of the letter themselves in order to present it to the recommendation writer for review and signature.

Some schools charge an application fee, ranging from $20 to $50. The fee is due once the applicant has completed all fields of the online application.

STEP 9: Submit your application and wait for the university to respond

If you developed your application yourself, you should take a couple of days (time permitting, of course) to review it again with fresh eyes.

And be patient. Application review times vary depending on the university and the major. They may ask for additional evidence, such as proof of ability to pay. Once your admission has been confirmed, the college will notify you of your enrollment, deadlines, and payment arrangements.
