Haunani kay trask death: A notable Native Hawaiian researcher and extremist, Haunani-Kay Trask, has passed on Saturday morning, as per family, companions and the University of Hawaii.

In an explanation, Jonathan Osorio, Dean Hawaiinuiakea School of Hawaiian Knowledge said:

“Our educator, associate and companion, Haunani Kay Trask spent away earlier today. Teacher Trask was a brave supporter for the Kanaka Maoli and was answerable for moving large number of splendid and gifted Hawaiians to go to the University of Hawaii.”

Trask was most notable locally for her activism, particularly for her work in advancing Native Hawaiian rights and native power.

One of Trask’s previous understudies, Healani Sonoda-Pale, heard the report from Trask’s family, who said she passed on “calmly.”

“It is dismal information for our Hawaiian people group since she has been a particularly significant voice,” Sonoda-Pale said.

“She assisted with opening the personalities of hundreds, maybe a large number of youthful Hawaiian researchers, and a considerable lot of our partners. She’s assisted with building those extensions with partners all throughout the planet for the predicament of Hawaiians.”

Tenured as a teacher for over 30 years at the UH Manoa, Trask worked in helping to establish the contemporary field of Hawaiian investigations. She resigned in 2010, having started her scholastic vocation at UH Manoa in 1981 as an associate teacher in the American examinations office with ability in women’s activist hypothesis and native investigations.
