1. Germination takes anywhere from 24 hours to 2 weeks

Plants use sexual reproduction to pass on their genes to future generations. Male and female cannabis plants are required to reproduce. Hermaphrodite plants exist occasionally, but they aren’t something you should be concerned about right now.

Trichomes are white crystals packed with cannabinoids like CBD and THC, in case you didn’t know. Growers prefer female plants because they are the only ones that produce a large number of trichomes. Male plants are nearly useless, but they may contaminate your crop if you keep them around.

There are a few methods for germinating cannabis seeds, but the paper towel method is the most common. It’s very simple and won’t take long. Here’s what you should do:

• Place two paper towels on a plate and soak four paper towels in the water. Place the cannabis seeds on the paper towel in a random pattern.
• Put the remaining two paper towels on a separate plate. Cover the other plate with this one to keep the cannabis seeds inside.
• Maintain a 70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit temperature in the room, and make sure the paper towels are still damp.

Keep an eye on your seeds from time to time. The seeds will eventually sprout a white taproot. Germination can take anywhere from 24 to 7 days. Take extreme caution when handling the seed. A white taproot will eventually emerge from the seeds. You can start by planting the seed in 2-inch pots of soil.

2. The seedling stage lasts about 2-3 weeks.

Once the seeds have germinated and been planted, they will begin to grow. A small cannabis plant will sprout from the soil and begin to take on familiar characteristics. It will produce two leaves that open outward from the stem to begin receiving sunlight during the seedling stage. As the plant enters its first growth cycle, its trademark cannabis leaves will begin to sprout at the top.

The plant will also begin to develop its root system during this time. It is officially a seedling while this is going on. Pot plants can stay in the seedling stage for 2-3 weeks, but this stage can last up to 6 weeks in rare cases. The length of time depends on the strain you’re growing and a few other factors. The seedling should be kept at 77 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity of around 60%.

3– 8 Weeks in the vegetative stage

It would help to move the plants to larger pots when the vegetative stage arrives. They will be rapidly growing at this point as they absorb more nutrients and carbon dioxide. This enables them to develop leaves and take shape quickly.

Plants will now grow taller, resulting in vertical growth. People’s plants have reportedly grown 2 inches in height in just 24 hours! In addition, the end of the vegetative stage is an excellent time to look for males in your crop. As the plants progress through this stage, females will begin to develop two white pistils, while males will develop pollen sacs.

Remove the plant from the area if you see these sacs before it pollinates the females and ruins your harvest. The general rule is to keep the temperature between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit and the humidity between 50 and 70 per cent during the vegetative stage. The plants will require 16 to 24 hours of sunlight per day.

4. Flowering Stage: 6-8 Weeks

The flowering stage is the most important for you as a cultivator because it is the final growth stage. The plants begin to produce a sticky resin on the leaves when they flower. Reduce the amount of light that plants are exposed to as they approach flowering.

Trichomes will grow as well. This indicates that the plant’s cannabinoids are flourishing. The amount of time the cannabis spends in the flowering stage determines its final potency. 

You can now stop giving the plant nitrogen and increase the potassium and phosphorus intake. The temperature should be between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit, with a humidity of around 50%.

5- When Should Marijuana Be Harvested?

Now comes the difficult part: determining the best time to harvest! The final product’s smell, taste, weight, and potency can all be affected by your timing. You’ll need to keep a close eye on your plants to know when to harvest them.

Examining the pistils closely is a useful trick. It’s time to harvest them when they turn brown and the leaves start to yellow. Experts recommend harvesting the plants when 70-90 per cent of the pistils have turned brown. It is preferable to harvest early rather than late. Even if the weed isn’t as potent as it once was, you’ll still get something.

6- Taking Care of Your Marijuana

It’s time to prune the plants after they’ve been cut down. This method ensures that your bud is rounded and smokable. You can prune either wet or dry. The former method is generally thought to be easier. 

Trim the sugar leaves after picking the fan leaves off the buds. These leaves can be used to make edibles or thrown away. It’s also a good idea to save the resin that collects on your gloves to use for dabs – it’s a powerful substance! Your buds are now ready to be dried and cured after being pruned.

7-Getting Ready for the Next Season’s Cycle

You’ll be rewarded with a potent, delicious bud once you’ve completed your first growing cycle. So, what is the next step?

We mentioned that you should remove the males from your cannabis crop, which means your females will not be pollinated and will not produce seeds. As a result, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to work with your seeds. You’ll need more seeds to keep cultivating your weed regularly.
